Open letter to MP Ryan Leef:

Shame on you.

You were elected in good faith to act in Yukon’s best interest and now you ignore us. I, and others, have sent you emails with various concerns, ranging from the closure of our Canada Revenue Agency office, to oil and gas exploration and development, to the Canada-China trade treaty; we have heard nothing.

To date, I have only received a short, and pointless, response from someone at your local office in which he did not address my concerns or even inform me of your position on the matter. We have not heard from you.

Mixed-martial arts?! Really?! Did your constituents tell you we need MMA? No. That was your idea, and yours alone. Maybe you’ve heard from your close friends that they want MMA, but Yukon, and Canadians, don’t need it; there are far more pressing issues.

We elect you and this is the one and only thing you have put forward. You haven’t acted or even assured us you will work to reinstate the front-line Parks Canada positions that were terminated, you aren’t fighting for our CRA office, you aren’t fighting for our territorial government’s right to democratic process. You are doing nothing.

How can you be acting in our best interest when you’re not listening? How can we have functional democracy without discussion? How can you sleep at night?

Democracy doesn’t stop at the polls, Mr. Leef.

Wake up.
