Keep dredge and S.S. Klondike open

I have been following the news of the Dawson Dredge and S.S. Klondike closures with disbelief at the lack of support, intelligence and vision that our federal bean counters have displayed in shutting down two of the most popular tourism sites in the territory. What are they thinking?

Both venues have been recently upgraded, both venues are thoroughly enjoyed, both venues are major destinations for tourists. We pour millions into advertising our territory and then when the tourists come, we have shut down two of the most popular sites. Does this make sense/cents?

Where are you, Ryan and Dan, when it comes to fighting this? Why aren’t we hearing anything from you both? Do you think that Erik Nielsen would have taken this lying down? I don’t think so.

And I hope that our Yukon government is working behind the scenes to keep these sites open, but we haven’t heard anything so far. How about it, Mike Nixon? Any creative ideas? As minister of tourism I would have thought you’d be all over this one.

Looking forward to hearing from Ryan, Dan and Mike.
