Re Building Homes and Angry Neighbours (the News, June 30):
I would like to point out a glaring mistake in your article.
You say, “Residents presented no alternative locations for development,” and then go on, right after, to contradict yourself. In fact, many people there did mention the Whistle Bend subdivision development and to say they did not point out any other options is to portray these residents as simply NIMBY activists.
Perhaps you could have mentioned that the other three infill sites in Riverdale are not being opposed, nor are a number of other infill sites across Whitehorse. Instead of simply presenting a polarized planning meeting, you could have mentioned that the city could pull the Boswell-Firth infill and proceed with only the other sites. Or perhaps you haven’t even read the community plan?
