We would like to thank all those who contributed to Hospice Yukon’s 21st Annual Lights of Life in December.

Hospice Yukon offers quality end-of-life care and bereavement support. One of the ways we do this is through Lights of Life. This event provides a meaningful way to remember someone who has died by placing a remembrance tag on a Lights of Life tree.

More than 100 people attended the Lights of Life Opening Ceremony at the Elijah Smith Building. The Persephone Singers, under the direction of Barb Chamberlin, filled the space with their beautiful voices. Many people were moved by the photo display of people’s loved ones who have died. We extend our heartfelt thanks to those who contributed to the display, and to all those who participated in the ceremony.

Thank you to our business community for their generous support: Alpine Bakery, The Chocolate Claim, Marsh Lake Tents and Events, Westmark Hotel and Unitech.

A very special thank you to the volunteers in the communities who put up a Lights of Life tree. These communities hosted their own healthy grieving ritual this year: Carcross, Carmacks, Dawson City, Faro, Haines Junction, Old Crow, Ross River, Tagish, Teslin and Watson Lake.

Finally, a huge thank you to the Hospice volunteers and tree-sitter volunteers who so generously gave of their time and hearts and provided moments of stillness during this busy time of the year.

We appreciate all of you!
