I am writing this letter in support to spare Trevor, the dog, from a death sentence.
If Trevor euthanized, it would be going against one of Canada’s fundamental values.
Why would Canada, a country that does not support capital punishment advocate that a dog be sentenced to death? Secondly, if offenders such as Karla Holmolka can be re-integrated into society, why couldn’t Trevor?
Animals are the responsibility of their owners and under the law are considered their property. Therefore, the responsibility should fall on the previous owners, unless they can establish that the dog acted out of their control.
The best solution would be to implement strict guidelines for the future owners of the dog and hold them liable if anything happened in the future.
I hope that you can support us in this matter.
