Gasoline prices fuel fury

I am totally surprised that the newspapers in Canada have not investigated why the price of gasoline is so high. When you look back some four years ago, the price of oil had reached $150 per barrel.

I am totally surprised that the newspapers in Canada have not investigated why the price of gasoline is so high.

When you look back some four years ago, the price of oil had reached $150 per barrel. The price of gasoline at the same time was lower than it is today with the price of a barrel of oil at around $90.

There is something here that does not compute. The oil companies have put fear into the hearts of Canadians and have raised the price of gasoline to suit themselves, and we as Canadian people have allowed this to happen without even causing a ruffle.

During this period, we have seen the price of diesel oil, which is the same as our heating oil, increase in price beyond the price of gasoline.

Now, anybody in the refining industry will tell you that it is less expensive to produce a gallon of diesel than gasoline, yet the oil companies have again found a way to gouge the public to increase their profits and line their own pockets, maybe even giving their executives a big bonus for coming up with this scheme.

Is government going to just sit back and do nothing? Yes, because no one is making a fuss, which means we are satisfied with the status quo, and of course the increase in taxes the government receives is a bonus.

I feel we Canadians need to let government and the oil companies know how we feel. Maybe everyone else is satisfied with the present price of gasoline, and I am just alone. Well, I have had enough and will not take it anymore. Is anyone else out there dissatisfied?
