I was dismayed to hear on the radio this morning that there was a small controversy surrounding this past weekend’s music festival at the Circle D Ranch. According to the news, certain folk were claiming that it was disrespectful of the organizers to use the English name over the First Nation name for Frog Mountain.
From all accounts I have seen, Frog Mountain Music Festival was an entertaining weekend with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Shame on those who would try to sully it with ridiculous accusations of disrespect. I hope these people will take a minute to think about the things they say before the next time they level accusations at any group of people just trying to bring people together to celebrate our lives as Yukoners.
