I am extremely infuriated by Mr. Halliday’s column in the Nov. 14 Yukon News. In this time of fiscal restraint and concern for the Canadian economy, how can any government justify spending $826,926.40 dollars in renovations to the Hougen Centre for an office for Leona Aglukkaq, Conservative political minister for the North and her local political assistant, former Yukon Party MLA Ted Staffen.

We have people starving and homeless but, by golly, the politicians will be warm and comfy in this office. Oh but wait, it doesn’t stop here. The annual operating costs of the office are $304,105.73. This includes the $14,000 per month rent! I wonder what the monthly operating costs for the food bank are?

Thank you Mr. Halliday for letting us know how the Conservatives are spending the taxpayers’ dollars. This is truly an outrage.
