Alexco supporter speaks out

I am very disappointed at the picture of me and what it seems to say in your April 27 edition story about Keno City. I do not disagree with Alexco, I actually support them.

I do not disagree with Alexco, I actually support them. I also support mining in the Yukon and am active with claims of my own.

It seems, over the years, the news media has taken a stance against mining and only prints negative things.

Over the last century, mining has been very key in building the Yukon infrastructure, highways and power systems. It has never stopped tourism or other recreation or the public from using and enjoying these benefits. When it becomes overused or crowded, it seems you try to kick out the mining.

I feel it is time Yukoners stand up and speak up for mining and what it has done for us.

You can do this by writing letters (which probably won’t be printed in the paper), coming out to meetings and showing up from May 7 to May 11 for mining week activities.
