It’s Friday, and my much-looked-forward-to copy of the Yukon News has arrived in my letter box.
As a longtime Yukoner until August 2012, the News keeps me in touch with the place and people I miss. I read letters to the editor first to see what issues Yukoners are concerned with, and the classifieds to see who is being born, married and passing on.
The sports pages allow me to keep in touch with “kids” I used to know, to see how they are coming along in life. Those kids, like Chelsea and Jenna Duncan, are now accomplished adult athletes succeeding in life. How exciting.
I thank my dear friend who has given me this gift of continued connection with a place that is still important to me.
