Open letter to Darrell Pasloski:

I am one of the 60 per cent of Yukoners who did not vote for you.

Please remember the vast majority of Yukon electors chose another party to represent their interests and not the Conservatives (oops, the Yukon Party).

The majority of those 60 per cent of voters voted for Liz Hanson and the NDP. Only the NDP’s share of the popular vote showed a significant increase from the last election.

She and her party do represent the views and priorities of the majority of Yukoners who wish to see the Peel protected, the homeless housed and Yukoners get a fair return on their depleting resources.

It is only because of the archaic electoral system that the minority, as represented by your party, govern the Yukon.

We had hoped for an enlightened government that would consult Yukoners and adopt a more representative electoral system, but, for now, we have to live under the present system which established a dictatorship for the minority.

I am shocked to learn from the local media that you have yet to meet with Hanson, leader of the Opposition, in spite of her repeated calls.

Please be mindful of the wishes of the majority and show some class. Liz Hanson’s classiness may rub off on you, and we would all be better off.
