I would like to comment on the article written in Friday’s Yukon News about the tree cutting in Teslin.

This is not about trees or about individuals’ behaviour at a council meeting (just remember, there are always two sides to a story, and sometimes three). This is about how your paper depicts the community of Teslin to the rest of the Yukon.

It would seem that the Yukon News only ever prints bad things about our community.

Teslin is a wonderful community and a really nice place to live.

My family has lived here for 34 years and still enjoys the community atmosphere that Teslin provides.

The people who live here, for the most part, all get along and enjoy the benefits a small community can bring to everyday life. When someone, or a family, has difficult circumstances to deal with, we all rally around that family to try and help out and make things more bearable.

To depict our community as a bunch of bickering individuals is unfounded.

It is most unfortunate that election time brings out the worst in some people and this is nothing new.

But, after all is said and done on October 11, we will all have to go back and live with each other.

The folks at theYukon News should come down to Teslin once in a while and report on all the good things that happen here and not just print the rare and unfortunate, regretful things that happen once in a while.
