Open letter to all who represented Team Yukon at the Canada Summer Games in Prince Edward Island:

I wish to personally congratulate and thank all the athletes, coaches, staff, artists, parents and volunteers who represented Team Yukon at the recent Canada Summer Games in Charlottetown.

As a parent, coach and athlete myself, I know how very important it is for our young people to be able to have the opportunity to take part in such a major national sporting, social and cultural event.

Not only do our citizens get a chance to develop and demonstrate their physical and/or artistic skills, but they also get to meet others who are just as motivated and dedicated as they are to personal excellence, whether it is on a track, in a pool, on a ball court or on a concert stage.

Although the Canada Games celebrate sportsmanship, leadership, co-operation and integrity, they also help to foster hospitality, friendship and understanding, the very things that make us human.

I hope the members of Team Yukon have many happy memories of the time they spent in Prince Edward Island representing our territory, and that all the wonderful things they learned about themselves and others help to inspire and guide them for years to come.
