We have received much feedback and offers of support following Genesee Keevil’s story about Mabel Peterson, the 70-year-old woman who was living in a drafty, damp and tattered tent in downtown Whitehorse.
We are pleased to report that, following the story, Peterson has been reunited with family in Inuvik, who were unaware of her dire situation in the Yukon.
Her daughters had been led to believe she was safely housed in Whitehorse.
Peterson is currently living with her granddaughter and will move to Inuvik to live with one of her daughters in early October.
