Esquimalt council OK’s resident parking-only on Gosper Crescent

More than 90 per cent of area residents signed a petition demanding the parking change.

Gosper Crescent will soon be resident parking-only.

Esquimalt township council unanimously approved the new parking regulation Monday after complaints from residents, who say the roadway is unsafe due to the amount of construction traffic, pub patrons and park users in the area.

The new regulation includes both sides of Gosper Crescent, including the roundabout.

More than 90 per cent of area residents signed a petition demanding the parking change.

Penalties for parking in the area will include fines and tow-aways, say municipal staff.

Council also asked staff, with consultation of residents, to identify blind spots on Gosper Crescent with an eye to more parking restrictions.
