Costume judges had their work cut out for them at the 18th annual Marsh Lake Classic Loppet held on Bob Lake at the Marsh Lake Community Centre on Saturday.

While the total number of skiers was a little below the record with 235 registered, costumed participants hit new levels with about 50 dressed up for the event.

Apparently nice weather brings out people’s wacky sides.

“Every year we get about a dozen people dressing up. This year we had like 50 people dressed up,” said chief of course John Streicker. “It was a hoot.”

While the number of costumes rose, so did the number of winners. This year a group of four skiers dressed as can-can girls won the Peter Milner Captain Fun Award for the best costume. The chorus line of winners were Maude Molgat, Sophie Molgat, Nathalie Dugas and Alliya Thomson.
