Watson Lake Secondary School principal Carson Atkinson is suing Liard First Nation chief Liard McMillan for defamation.
The suit centres on comments McMillan allegedly made in a media release and broadcast on CBC Radio in October 2006, according to Supreme Court documents filed on June 20.
“The plaintiff has been seriously injured in his character, credit and reputation.”
He has suffered mental stress and related physical injury, according to the documents.
Atkinson is also seeking an injunction that would stop McMillan from further writing, printing or broadcasting “any similar libel.”
