The above old photograph was taken June 24, 1934 on Lloyd Ryder’s 12th birthday. It was his birthday party. Lloyd’s dad’s truck is on the ferry. In an earlier column I featured a Takhini River ferry photograph and story by Gudrun Sparling.

Thank you very much to Lloyd Ryder for the above photograph and information. The Ryder family is one of Whitehorse’s early pioneer families, like Gudrun’s family. Her mother and father were the Ericksons who owned and ran the old Regina Hotel on the Whitehorse waterfront, years ago.
