CRIME

Quick action nabs suspected armed robber

An unknown male entered Bernie’s Race Teac Gas at about 10 p.m. on Tuesday night. He threatened the store clerk with a weapon and demanded money.

Thanks to quick action from the store’s clerk, RCMP police dog services tracked the suspect through the McIntyre subdivision where he was arrested without incident, according to an RCMP report.

Twenty-five-year-old Christopher Jonathan Dale Cornell, of Whitehorse, was charged with one count each of robbery with an offensive weapon and disguise with intent.

Cornell remains in custody.

It is unknown if this crime was linked to the other armed robbery that happened at the gas station on March 15.

This separate incident remains under investigation. (LC)
