Man medevaced after Alaska Highway crash

A 48-year-old Whitehorse resident was medevaced to Vancouver after his car collided with a tractor trailer on Wednesday evening, leaving him in grave condition.

A 48-year-old Whitehorse resident was medevaced to Vancouver after his car collided with a tractor trailer on Wednesday evening, leaving him in grave condition.

The collision happened at the intersection of the Alaska Highway and Burns Road.

The truck was travelling within the speed limit and had the right of way when the car moved into the northbound lane, causing the collision, according to Whitehorse RCMP.

The car driver was extracted from his car and first sent to Whitehorse General Hospital.

The truck driver was not injured.

The accident forced police to cordon off the area and send traffic through downtown.
