For the second time in two months, a man attempted to rob Goody’s Gas Bar in Porter Creek with a blow torch.

Whitehorse RCMP reported that the attempted robbery happened on June 11 a little before 9 p.m.

The suspect fled on foot after being confronted by the station’s staff, and was last seen heading toward Crocus Glen Subdivision.

Nobody was hurt and the suspect left without any property or cash.

Witnesses described him as possibly being of First Nations descent, five foot six, with a round face, a moustache, blue jeans and a dark-coloured hoodie.

On May 10, a man also armed with a blowtorch robbed Goody’s Gas, leaving with $490 from the till.

At the time the RCMP said a female accomplice was seen working as a look out.

The May 10 suspect was described as a five foot five tall man, possibly of First Nation descent, wearing a dark hoodie and hat with the Monster energy drink logo on it.

In both cases the suspect confronted the store clerk, demanding cash. Searches by RCMP agents assisted by dogs didn’t yield any results.

In the May 10 case, the blow-torch wasn’t lit. Whitehorse RCMP didn’t clarify whether or how the blow-torch was used on June 11, citing the need to protect the integrity of the investigation.
