All open burning, including campfires and fireworks, are forbidden in most of the province, including Atlin.

“This extraordinary step is being taken to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety,” B.C. fire officials announced on July 3.

The B.C. Wildfire Service is dealing with more than 150 active fire in the province.

Campfires are still allowed in the area known as the “Fog Zone” along the western coast of the Vancouver Island.
