Targeting the bureaucracy

Calculating the pros and cons of a gun registry dumbfounds me when the maintenance of a government job enters the equation.

I always felt there had to be a social need, successfully met, to justify continuation of government programs and jobs.

Why would a government job be guaranteed for any reason?

Why on Earth would anyone protest losing a position that is merely an expense to the taxpayer with no benefit to society.

This concept is unheard of in private business. Job security, upper-end wages and incredible pensions can’t justify a nonproductive position.

I know that the long-gun registry is not proven to prevent the use or abuse of rifles. Increased penalties, known and feared by potential abusers, may help. They would definitely reduce further opportunity once abused.

I would revoke the Firearms Acquisition Certificate and any use of firearms upon a criminal record of any kind.

Don’t obey the law, your privileges or rights diminish and we can start with guns. Rights should not extend beyond the law of the land.

There is, unfortunately, a great deal of manpower and tax revenue required within the criminal justice system. We don’t need to waste our money on initiatives without proven success and the long-gun registry has no reasonable benefit to justify its cost.

Let’s allocate the dwindling budgets to more productive crime-related successful measures.
