We are the sisters of Barry Fargey, who recently passed away at Strickland Lake, near Dawson City.

We made the journey to Dawson for his celebration of life and were overwhelmed by the warmth and generosity of the community who came together and provided him with such a great send off.

We appreciate the efforts of the organizers, the T-shirt and button makers, the barbecuers, the people who brought and served the food and tended bar, the musicians and the people who provided the sound equipment and stage and canopies, Parks Canada for the grounds, the provision of the boat, the people who stepped up and shared stories, and specifically: Carol, Carly, Lois, Dawn, Wayne, Martin, and Tommy.

We are sure we must be leaving people out; there were so very many people that contributed, and we hope that they know how completely we appreciate all that was done.

The kindness of Brad at Triple J Hotel, and Wendy at Bamboo Peggy’s, for the accommodations was unexpected and very appreciated as well.

A special thank you for all who welcomed us so warmly and shared a hug, a story and often a laugh. It was so special to meet the people that became his Dawson family and to hear how he had touched their lives.

It is easy to see why he made Dawson his home.

We left Dawson with many fond memories, despite the circumstances, and hopefully, some new friends.
