My wife and I have just returned from a road trip south to Kamloops, Calgary, Yellowknife and back. It was such a pleasant trip through all the different jurisdictions and noticed how these other road systems use rumble strips to increase road safety. In B.C., they use rumble strips on the centre line and the shoulder fog line. The same can be said for Alberta. Sometimes we noticed that rumble strips were milled into older sections of chip seal as well as regular pavement. It appears that safety is a big issue south of 60. I feel that safety should be a big issue here, too. Everyone knows that rumble strips increase the safety factor of all roads and highways. Someday I would like our department of roads and highways to take a more aggressive stance on road safety.
